Newton's First Law

In the two pictures above, the batters are hitting the ball with the bat which causes the ball to move a different direction. If there was no outside force that made contact with the baseball, the baseball would go on forever.

In Newton's first law, it states that anything in a state of motion remains in that state unless an outside force is applied to it. Baseball applies to this because when a pitcher pitches a ball, he/she is applying force to the ball which in effect, makes the ball move. If there was no force on the ball, it wouldn't go anywhere. Another way that Newton's First Laws plays in baseball is in the batting. When a ball is pitched to the batter, the batter uses force to move the bat and possibly hitting the ball causing the ball to bounce off the bat and out into the outfield. If there was no force in baseball, it would be impossible to play.
